The Foundation At MCCC Awards The Sonya Kay Brett Business And Computer Information Systems Endowed Memorial Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Sonya Kay Brett Business and Computer Information Systems Endowed Memorial Scholarship to Ashleigh Benson and Elizabeth Lapp. Each $1,500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.

Benson of Dundee is a 2017 graduate of Dundee High School. She is studying business management while attending MCCC. Benson is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Ashleigh is the daughter of Roger and Suzanne Benson.

Lapp of Monroe is a 2007 graduate of Monroe High School. She is attending MCCC to pursue a degree in accounting. Lapp is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and is a volunteer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. She is the daughter of Charles and Amy Downer.

To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled in either a business or computer information systems program, have completed 24 credit hours or more and have a GPA of 2.8 or above. The applicant must be a resident of Monroe County and a U.S. citizen. Also, the student must maintain full-time student status during the scholarship year, which is defined as 12 credit hours.
