The Foundation At MCCC Awards The Ray L. Kessler Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation Monroe County Community College has awarded the Ray L. Kessler Scholarship to Megan Apker, Zoe Messer, and Conner Petit. The Kessler Scholarship was established at The Foundation at MCCC by Jefferson High School alumni to honor former longtime principal Ray Kessler. The scholarship will be available to the recipient for up to three years, providing funds are available. Each $5,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, and fees.

Apker of Monroe is a 2019 graduate of Jefferson High School. She plans to study nursing while attending MCCC. Apker has volunteered with the Monroe County Special Olympics and helped out with softball clean up. She is the daughter of Katie and Leon Apker.

Messer of Newport is a 2019 graduate of Jefferson High School. She plans to study nursing while attending MCCC. Messer is an active volunteer at Community Lutheran Church. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Prevention Leadership Team (SPLT), DECA, Student Council, pep rally committee and is on the varsity softball and volleyball teams. Messer is the daughter of Arthur and Chari Messer.

 

Petit of Newport is a 2019 graduate of Jefferson High School. He will be pursuing an associate degree in welding Technology at MCCC. Petit is an honor roll student, receiving all A’s. He is the son of Robert and Jody Petit.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a United States citizen, attended both their junior and senior year, and graduated from Jefferson High School, Monroe, Michigan, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
