MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Philip J. Iott Memorial Scholarship to Alexandra Regis. The $1,700 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Regis of La Salle is a 2018 graduate of the Learning Bank of Monroe. She is studying to be an automotive engineer and automotive technician. Regis is the daughter of Leonore Camden Regis and mother to Emma Butler and Roman Benvenuto.
This scholarship was established by Pennie M. Iott, with family and friends, to honor her late husband’s commitment to the youth of the Monroe community. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has participated in the Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) system or a student who has participated in the MCCC Upward Bound Program who at the time of graduation was in good standing with the program. The student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester. Preference may be given to an applicant who has lived in the Monroe County Youth Center.
