MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Michael E. Newman Endowed Memorial Scholarship to Katie Lay. The $800 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Lay of Monroe is a 2005 graduate of Monroe High School. She is studying respiratory therapy at MCCC. She is the daughter of Ruth Spencley and the late Thomas Spencley and the spouse to the late Steve Lay and mother to Amanda and Natalie.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a member of the Monroe County Community Credit Union, have and maintain a 2.8 grade point average or higher during the scholarship year, and maintain at least part-time enrollment, defined as six contact hours or more per semester. Financial need is also considered.
