MCCC Awards Presidential Scholarships

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College has awarded Presidential Scholarships at MCCC to Hannah Alexander, Abigail Armstrong, Benjamin Comstock, Procopio Cusumano, Micah Dyson, Hanna Gee, Emily Hintz, Jessica Link, Katrina Lomasand Addison White. The scholarships are to be used for tuition and fees.

Alexander of Dundee is a 2019 graduate of Dundee High School. She will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. Alexander is president of the Future Farmers of America (FFA), captain of the volleyball and basketball teams and is vice president of the National Honor Society. She is a member of Student Prevention Leadership Team (SPLT), IMPACT, student council and 4-H. Alexander has received the Lenawee County Athletic Association (LCAA) Scholarship Athlete Award, several FFA awards including Outstanding Senior Award, Gold Academic Excellence and Proficiency Award. She is the daughter of Marie and Dean Alexander.

Armstrong of Petersburg is a 2019 Bedford High School graduate. She will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. Armstrong is a member of the National Honor Society, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), DECA (business club), Students in Action, SPLT and Student Council. Armstrong is a math tutor and is a dancer at Stage Starz Academy of Dance. She has received the Junior Varsity Volleyball Coaches Award and several DECA and HOSA awards. She is the daughter of Kevin and Aundrea Armstrong.

Comstock of Dundee is a 2019 graduate of Dundee High School. He will be studying nuclear engineering technology while attending MCCC.

Cusumano of Monroe is a 2019 graduate of Monroe High School. He will be studying psychology while attending MCCC. Cusumano is a member of the National Honor Society and is an honor roll student. He is the son of Amanda Cusumano and Sal and Krystle Cusumano.

Dyson of Carleton is a 2019 homeschool graduate. He intends to get an associates of science degree while attending MCCC. He is the son of Shane and Rachel Dyson.

Gee of Dundee is a 2019 graduate of Dundee High School. She will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. She is an active member of the FFA and National Honor Society and played basketball four years in high school.

Hintz of Monroe is a co-salutatorian of the class of 2019 graduate of Jefferson High School. She will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. Hintz is a member of the National Honor Society, SPLT, student council, varsity volleyball, basketball and track teams and St. Charles Church. She has received the highest GPA Senior Award for both volleyball and basketball. Hintz is the daughter of David and Lynn Hintz.

Link of Petersburg is a 2019 graduate of Whiteford Agricultural High School. She plans to study nursing while attending MCCC. She is president of Student Council and FFA, a member of the National Honor Society, Project Outreach and SPLT. Link played on the varsity basketball and softball teams while attending WHS.

Lomas of Monroe is a 2019 homeschool graduate. She is undecided about her major while attending MCCC. Lomas is a member of Faithful Friends, C.S.I, Sharpshooters, Cat Program, Shooting Sports Association, Teen Ambassadors, Small Animal Association, Terra Quest, the Youth Leadership Board, Michigan 4-H State Youth Leadership Council, Interact Club and Monroe Rod and Gun Youth Conservation. She has received the Frank Hawley Leadership Award, I Dare You Award, Communications and Expressive Arts 4-H State Award, Leadership and Personal Development 4-H State Award, Quality of Life Award, and 2018/2019 Monroe County 4-H Queen. Lomas is the daughter of Duane and Becky Lomas.

White of Monroe is a 2019 graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School. She will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. White is a member of the National Honor Society, Interact Club, Student Ambassadors and God Works volunteer. White received the Course Award and First Honors in her freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years, and the All Huron League Award in soccer. She is the daughter of William and Julie White.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a Monroe County, Michigan, resident, must have a GPA 3.5 or better, exhibited leadership qualities, demonstrated participation in school and/or community affairs and must be enrolled for 12 or more credit hours per semester.
