MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Marissa L. Presnell Memorial Scholarship to Alexa Hilkens. The $1,000 scholarship is to cover costs of tuition, book and supplies.
Hilkens of Temperance is a 2011 graduate of Bedford High School. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC. Hilkens is a member of the Student Nurses Association and is a veteran of the United States Navy. She is the daughter of Tracy Meade and Howard Gibson, spouse to Patrick and mother to Sybil and Cora.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be enrolled in the MCCC nursing program and have completed the first semester of the program with a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average. Recipient must be a resident of Monroe County, Michigan, a United States citizen, a graduate of Bedford High School, and enrolled at least part-time at MCCC.
