The Foundation At MCCC Awards Elizabeth And Samuel Campbell Memorial Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Elizabeth and Samuel Campbell Memorial Scholarships to Amber Kops, Presly Kreps, Leah McDonald and Alexandra Rimmer. The $1,325 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.

Kops of Lambertville is a 1999 graduate of Bedford High School. She is studying cybersecurity and information assurance at MCCC. Kops is a secretary/treasurer with her local VFW Auxiliary and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa at MCCC. She is the daughter of Kimberly Koberstein.

Kreps of La Salle is a 2017 graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central. She is studying nursing while attending MCCC. Kreps is a member of the Student Nurses Association. She is the daughter of Penelope and Dean Kreps.

McDonald of Carleton is a 2016 graduate of Airport High School. She is pursuing an associate degree in science while attending at MCCC. McDonald participates in We Care Ministry. She is the daughter of Jerry and Dawn McDonald and the spouse of Andrew Robinson.

Rimmer of Temperance is a 2018 graduate of a Bedford High School. She will be studying nursing at MCCC before transferring to Spring Arbor University. Rimmer is a volleyball coach for Toledo Dynamic Volleyball Club and Toledo Central Catholic. She has received several athletic awards. Alexandra is the daughter of Roman and Shelly Rimmer.

The Elizabeth and Samuel Campbell Memorial Scholarship was established by former MCCC President Emeritus Dr. Ronald Campbell and his sister, Rebecca Campbell Sandretto, to honor their parents’ drive for their children to pursue a college degree. Samuel Campbell was a journeyman tool and die maker and Elizabeth was a homemaker. Although neither attended college, they valued education and encouraged their children to do so.

To be eligible the student must demonstrate academic excellence and have financial need.
