The Foundation At MCCC Awards The C. Ernest Read Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the C. Ernest Read Scholarship to Jacob Laboe. The $1,150 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

This scholarship was established by the estate of one of the founders of MCCC, C. Ernest Read. Read was actively involved in the early stages of planning the MCCC campus and served on the committee that created the initial guidelines for its development.

Laboe of Monroe is a 2017 graduate of Monroe High School. He is pursuing an associate of science degree. Laboe is a Writing Fellow at MCCC, participated in the supplemental instructor program and is a tutor in the Learning Assistant Lab. Jacob is the son of Roberta Gibson and Larry Laboe.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a grade point average of 2.5 or above, have earned 24 credit hours and be active in a recognized college organization.
