The Foundation At MCCC Awards The Edward And Henrietta Knabusch Trust Memorial Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded theEdward and Henrietta Knabusch Trust Memorial Scholarship to Julie DePelsMaeker, Ousmane Diallo, Kayla Hodges, Kayla Maddox and Danielle Michael. Each $2,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, academic supplies and books.

DePelsMaeker of Monroe is a 2019 graduate of Monroe High School. She will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. DePelsMaeker is a volunteer at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital and has also volunteered for Oaks of Righteousness and Health Occupations Students of America. DePelsMaeker is the daughter of Timothy and Annette DePelsMaeker.

Diallo of Monroe is a 2010 graduate of Stephane Plus High School. She will be studying nursing at MCCC. Diallo has previously volunteered for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. She is the daughter of Halimatou and Mamadou Diallo, married to Mouctar Diallo and mother to Mariama, Oumou and Thierno Diallo.

Hodges of Newport is a 2015 graduate of Airport High School. Her education goal is to complete her associate of science degree at MCCC. Hodges is involved in the Writing Fellows program as a writing tutor, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and recently received the Outstanding Humanities Student of the Year Award. She is the daughter of Kristy Marks-Hodges and Ronald Hodges Jr.

Maddox of Temperance is a 2014 homeschool graduate. She will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. Maddox is an active member of the Community Emergency Response Team and is an Emergency Medical Technician and a certified Search and Rescue Level 2 Technician. While attending MCCC, she is a senior writing fellow and a member of the Student Nursing Association. She is the daughter of Joshua and April Maddox.

Michael of Newport is a 2018 graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School. She will be completing her prerequisite classes at MCCC then transferring to a four-year college. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa at MCCC. Danielle is the daughter of Michelle and Howard Michael

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be have at least a 2.5 GPA, demonstrate involvement in community service and must maintain at least part-time enrollment at MCCC. Preference is given to a Monroe County, Michigan, resident.
