MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College is hosting numerous events in honor of Black History Month. All events are free and open to the public.
Events include:
- Monday, February 5. “Demystifying Africa,” a presentation by MCCC President Dr. Kojo A. Quartey. Audrey M. Warrick Student Services & Administration Building, Room 173d., 2-3 p.m.
- THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED: Thursday, February 15. Panel Discussion: “Economic Status of African American Countries.” La-Z-Boy Center, Room 271, 2-3 p.m.**
- Monday, February 19. Panel Discussion: “African American Education in the City of Detroit.” Audrey M. Warrick Student Services & Administration Building, Room 173d, 2-3 p.m.
- Thursday, February 22. Panel Discussion: “Haiti: Past and Present.” Audrey M. Warrick Student Services & Administration Building, Room 173d, 2-3 p.m.
- Saturday, February 24. The Big Gig! Monroe County’s 31st Annual Black History Month Blues Concert starring Ruthie Foster, Anthony Gomes and Rev. Robert B. Jones, Sr. La-Z-Boy Center, 7 p.m. (Doors open at 6 p.m.)
- Tuesday, February 27. Film: “Get in the Way: The Journey of John Lewis.” Campbell Learning Resources Center - Little Theater, 2-3 p.m.
