MONROE, Mich.—The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Chad L. Stoner Medical Research Scholarship to Joclyn Gross. The $1,827 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
Gross of Maybee is a 2017 graduate of Monroe High School. Gross plans to pursue a associate’s degree in biology at MCCC, later transferring to Eastern Michigan University to achieve a bachelor’s degree in biology. Gross has volunteered on multiple occasions for the Salvation Army. At Monroe High School, Gross took part in Interact Club, volunteering for multiple charities across Monroe County, and Soroptimist Club, raising awareness for women in need inside Monroe County. Joclyn is the daughter of John and Theresa Gross.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and submit a one- page essay outlining the reason for his or her interest in medical research and ultimate career goals. To maintain the scholarship, a student must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and have a 3.0 GPA.
