MONROE, Mich. - Monroe County Community College has awarded the Philip J. Iott Memorial Scholarship to Kayla Webster. The scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Webster of Carleton is a 2018 graduate of Airport High School. Webster will be studying general education while attending MCCC before transferring to Eastern Michigan University to pursue a career in education. Webster is a member of Upward Bound and Interact Club. Kayla is the daughter of Jamie and Kyle McLaughlin.
This scholarship was established by Pennie M. Iott, with family and friends, to honor her late husband’s commitment to the youth of the Monroe community. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has participated in the Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) system or a student who has participated in the MCCC Upward Bound Program who at the time of graduation was in good standing with the program. The student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester. Preference may be given to an applicant who has lived in the Monroe County Youth Center.
