The Foundation at MCCC Awards the Edward and Henrietta Knabusch Trust Memorial Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Edward and Henrietta Knabusch Trust Memorial Scholarship to Brandon Chick, Kayla Hodges, Leah McDonald, Nathan Nisley and Bailey Ridner.
The $2,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, academic supplies and books.

Chick of Temperance is a 2012 graduate of Bedford High School. Chick will be studying mechanical engineering while attending MCCC. Chick participates as a Young Life camp counselor for Blissfield Middle School. Brandon is the husband of Taylor Chick and son of Sandy and James Chick.

Hodges of Newport is a 2015 graduate of Airport High School. Hodges is exploring multiple career options while attending MCCC, she hopes to later transfer to Eastern Michigan University. At MCCC, Hodges participates as a writing fellow in the Learning Assistance Lab and is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Hodges has previously participated in a mission trip to Romania. Kayla is the daughter of Kristy Marks-Hodges Ronald Hodges Jr.

McDonald of Monroe is a 2016 graduate of Airport High School. McDonald will be studying for an associates of science at MCCC. She plans to later transfer to a four year university to study nutrition. McDonald participates in We Care Ministries at Northbrook Church. We Care Ministries gives low income families personal care items, food, clothing and more. Leah is the daughter of Dawn and Gerald McDonald.

Nisley of Carleton is a 2018 homeschool graduate. He will be studying construction management technology while attending MCCC. Nisley has volunteered on multiple occasions for the Salvation Army.

Ridner of Ida is a 2015 graduate of Dundee High School. Ridner is studying nursing while attending MCCC. She is also a member of the MCCC Student Nurse Association. In high school, she participated in the Bluestreak Buddy Program. Bailey is the daughter of Scott and Kris Ridner.

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be have at least a 2.5 GPA, demonstrate involvement in community service and must maintain at least part-time enrollment at MCCC. Preference is given to a Monroe County, Michigan resident.
