MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College has awarded the Joanne D. Smith Memorial Scholarship to Sierra Cox. The $1,150 scholarship is to cover costs of tuition, book and fees.
Cox of Ida is a 2018 graduate of Ida High School. Cox will be studying nursing while attending MCCC. Sierra is a member of National Honor Society, marching band, Girls Scouts of the USA, pit band and wind ensemble. She is the daughter of Michelle and Larry Cox.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be enrolled in a transfer program, maintain full-time student enrollment status of twelve credit hours, and a member of College/Community Band or Agora Chorale during the scholarship year. Also, the student must be a U.S. Citizen and a Monroe County resident. Preference will be given to an Ida High School graduate and someone who demonstrates financial need.
