MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the C. Ernest Read Scholarship to Kole Gross. The $1,100 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.
This scholarship was established by the estate of one of the founders of MCCC, C. Ernest Read. Read was actively involved in the early stages of planning the MCCC campus and served on the committee that created the initial guidelines for its development.
Gross of Lambertville is a recent graduate of Bedford High School. Gross is a Writing Fellow at MCCC, counseling students on their writing assignments. He has also volunteered on behalf of First Apostolic Church, setting up a block party for underprivileged Toledo residents. Gross is studying business management at MCCC. After receiving his degree from MCCC, he hopes to transfer to the University of Toledo to pursue a degree in Human Resources. Kole is the son of Shawn and Kelli Gross.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a GPA of 2.5 or above, have earned 24 credit hours and be active in a recognized college organization.
