The Foundation at MCCC Awards the Betty Swartout Memorial Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Betty Swartout Memorial Scholarship to Jenna Diekman. The $1,100 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Diekman of South Rockwood is a 2016 graduate of Airport High School. Diekman plans to attend MCCC for two years before transferring to a four year university to pursue a career in education. Jenna is a member of Monroe County 4- H. She is the daughter of Sandra Ann Diekman.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have a GPA of 2.5 or above, entering their second-year as a student who is in the pre-education transfer program or planning to pursue a degree in the field of elementary education. Majors of study include degrees in Early Childhood Development or Teacher Paraprofessional with a commitment to complete studies in a baccalaureate Elementary Education program. Applicants must have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA, be a Monroe County resident and preference will be given to students who attended Monroe Public Schools, Monroe, MI.
