MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College has partnered with the Internal Revenue Service to provide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) for low- to moderate-income taxpayers who generally earn $54,000 or less and need assistance preparing their own tax returns.
IRS-certified volunteers will provide free, basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Individuals who would like to have their tax returns prepared by IRS-certified volunteers can schedule an appointment through the college’s VITA website at www.monroeccc.edu/taxassist. An appointment is recommended but not required. Those who possess basic computer skills can prepare their own federal and state tax returns with assistance, if needed, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Children are not allowed in the tax preparation area and cannot be left unattended in the lobby.
Income tax preparation assistance will be available on Fridays through April 7 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Career Technology Center on MCCC’s Main Campus. The Main Campus is located at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. in Monroe.
