Three of the Black History Month Events that were listed in the original release below have been rescheduled from this week to the week of March 6 due to conflicts with Spring Break.
- The “Demystifying Africa” presentation has been moved Monday, February 27 at noon to Monday, March 6 at noon. It will be held in the Dining Room of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services and Administration Building.
- The “Challenges of Poverty in the Black Community” presentation has been moved from Wednesday, March 1 at noon to Tuesday, March 7 at noon. It will be held in Room 173a of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services and Administration Building.
- The “Black Progress in America” panel discussion has been moved from Thursday, March 2 at noon to Wednesday, March 8 at noon. It will be held in the Dining Room of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services and Administration Building.
MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College is hosting numerous events in honor of Black History Month. All are free and open to the public and will take place in the dining room of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services/Administration Building unless otherwise noted.
- Wednesday, February 8. “Women in Jazz and Notes at Noon.” Noon. This will be a presentation and musical performance by Galen Abdur-Razzaq of Flute Juice Productions.
- Thursday, February 16. African American Poetry Night, 7 p.m., Campbell Learning Resources Center, Little Theater, Room C-3. This event is sponsored by the MCCC Writing Center.
- Tuesday, February 21. “Notes at Noon - Bubba Wilson & Band.” 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Wednesday, February 22. “The Role of the NAACP in Civil Rights.” Noon. This will be a presentation by NAACP representatives.
- Thursday, February 23. “Black Progress in America.” Noon. Dr. Kojo A. Quartey, MCCC president, will moderate this panel discussion.
- Wednesday, February 27, “Demystifying Africa.” Noon. This will be a presentation by Dr. Kojo A. Quartey, MCCC president.
- Tuesday, February, 28. “Challenges of Poverty in the Black Community.” Noon. This will be a presentation by Bob Leski, retired MCCC faculty member and owner of Leski Insurance Agency.
