MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Selma Rankins Memorial Scholarship to Brooklyn Wright. The $855 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Wright, of Newport, is a 2015 graduate of Airport Senior High School and is pursuing a Teacher Paraprofessional degree at MCCC. She has tutored English, worked as a substitute teacher, and conduct workshops for the Upward Bound summer program and the Upward Bound after-school program for two years. She is also a member of the Writing Fellow program at MCCC. She is the daughter of Timothy and Juanita Wright.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be pursuing a career in education, demonstrate financial need, a resident of Monroe County, Michigan, a United States citizen and a graduate of a Monroe County, Michigan, high school, preference may be given to a Monroe High School, Monroe, Michigan student and must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
