MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Edward and Henrietta Knabusch Trust Memorial Scholarship to Elise Borbely, Anna DeClercq, Sarah Dusseau, James Hagerman and Kacy Hall. The $2,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, academic supplies and books.
Borbely, of Maybee, a 2016 graduate of Dundee High School, is undecided about her major while attending MCCC. She is the Class of 2016 Salutatorian. She is a coach for Girls on the Run at Dundee Elementary School. She is the daughter of Steve and Melissa Borbely.
DeClercq, of Carleton, is a 2017 graduate of Airport High School and is pursuing a career in the Respiratory Therapy Program at MCCC. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Interact Club. She has received the President’s Education Award, Blue and Gold Award and has received several tennis awards. She is the daughter of Robert and Lori DeClercq.
Dusseau, of Ida, is a 2013 graduate of Ida High School. She is pursuing a career in the Respiratory Therapy Program at MCCC. As a MCCC student, she has worked in the LAL as a Writing Fellow, tutor, student assistant, notetaker and reader for students. She is the daughter of Patrick and Kitty Dusseau.
Hagerman, of Carleton, is a 2000 graduate of Belleville High School. He is pursuing a career in the Nursing Program at MCCC. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He is the married to Julie Hagerman, is the father to James and Caden and the son of Sharon Hagerman.
Hall, of Monroe, a 2016 graduate of Monroe High School is pursuing a career in nursing at MCCC. She has been on MCCC’s Deans list. She is the daughter of Robert and Kelly Hall.
To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be have at least a 2.5 GPA, demonstrate involvement in community service and must maintain at least part-time enrollment at MCCC. Preference is given to a Monroe County, Michigan resident.
