MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation Monroe County Community College has awarded the Ray L. Kessler Scholarship to Savannah Foster and Arianna Scott. The Kessler Scholarship was established at The Foundation at MCCC by Jefferson High School alumni to honor former longtime principal Ray Kessler. The scholarship will be available to the recipient for up to three years, providing funds are available. The $2,500 scholarship is to be used for tuition, books, and fees.
Foster, of Newport, is a 2017 graduate of Jefferson High School and plans to acquire an Associate Degree at MCCC. She has recently worked with the Monroe County Special Olympics. She is the daughter of Shane and Erin Foster.
Scott, of Newport, is a 2017 graduate of Jefferson High School and plans to acquire an Associate Degree at MCCC. In high school, she participated in band and was a member of the Nation Honors Society. She is the daughter of Kelly Shelton.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a United States citizen, attended both their junior and senior year, and a graduate of, Jefferson High School, Monroe, Michigan, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
