MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Philip Iott Memorial Scholarship to Jordan Stumpmier. The $1,600 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Stumpmier, of Newport, is a 2016 graduate of Airport high School and is pursuing an Associate of Science Degree at MCCC. She has been involved with the National Honor Society and Upward Bound. She is the daughter of Tiera Stoner and Larry Roberts.
This scholarship was established by Pennie M. Iott, with family and friends, to honor her late husband’s commitment to the youth of the Monroe community. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has participated in the Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) system or a student who has participated in the MCCC Upward Bound Program who at the time of graduation was in good standing with the program. The student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester. Preference may be given to an applicant who has lived in the Monroe County Youth Center.
