MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Circolo Italiano Scholarship to Kala Giarmo of Monroe, Michigan. The scholarship of $350 is to be used for books.
Giarmo, of Monroe, is a 2013 graduate of Monroe High Scholl and is pursing her studies in Nursing at MCCC. She is a member of the Student Nurses Association at MCCC. She is the daughter of Nicholas and Teresa Giarmo.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must present financial need, reside in Monroe County and have a working knowledge of the Italian language or culture. Preference will be given to a student planning to pursue studies, training, or research relating to the Italian culture.
