The Foundation at MCCC Awards the Helen M. And Eugene W. Beach Nursing/RT Scholarship

MONROE, Mich. – The Foundation at Monroe County Community College has awarded the Helen M. and Eugene W. Beach Nursing/RT Scholarship to Sarah Cociuba, Emily Cornell, Rachel Fisher, Amberlee Szymchack and Jaimie Terrasi. Each $1,920 scholarship is to be used for tuition and fees.

Cociuba, of Newport, a 2010 graduate of Airport High School, and is enrolled in the Respiratory Therapy Program at MCCC. She is the daughter of Daniela and Cristian Cociuba.

Cornell, of Monroe, a 2014 graduate of Monroe High School, is pursuing a career in the Nursing Program at MCCC. She is a Writing Fellow, President of the Community Service Club, Treasurer of the Student Nurses Association, Treasurer of Alpha Delta Mu and member of the Monroe County Medical Reserves. She is the daughter of Mark Cornell and Kimberly Murray.

Fisher, of Ottawa Lake, is a 2014 graduate of Whiteford High School. She is pursuing a career in the nursing program at MCCC. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church where she volunteers for vacation bible school each summer. She is the daughter of Cheryl and Jason Fisher.

Szymchack, of Maybee, a 2004 graduate of Dundee High School is pursuing a career in the nursing program at MCCC. She is a member of the Student Nurse Association at Monroe County Community College. She is the daughter of Kimberlee Buckingham and is married to her husband, Chris. They have three children.

Terrasi, of Erie, is a 2007 graduate of Monroe High School. She is pursuing a career in Nursing at MCCC. She is currently a member and officer in the Community Service and Student Nurses Association at MCCC. She volunteers at God Works soup kitchen and Oaks of Righteousness. She is the daughter of John and Josie Terrasi.

To be eligible for this scholarship a student must be a Monroe County resident, a second year student enrolled in the registered nursing or respiratory therapy program, demonstrates above average clinical and performance and consistently evidence a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
