MONROE, Mich. – In honor of Women’s History Month, Monroe County Community College will host numerous events in March. The events are free and open to the public. MCCC is located at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. in Monroe.
A “Women Feeling Frazzled” presentation, which will demonstrate ways for women to reduce stress and use their own toolkits of healthful remedies to enjoy in everyday living, will take place on Thursday, March 31, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Room 173C of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services/Administration Building.
“The Riveting “Rosies” from WWII” will be held in the Dining Room of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services/Administration Building on Thursday, March 17, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Original and current “Rosies” will speak about why they are important in women’s history and how the Detroit Rosies helped secure victory in World War II. Dressed in “Rosie garb,” these women will share the legacy of the women of the Greatest Generation.
The documentary film “Miss Representation” will be shown on Thursday, March 24 from noon-1:30 p.m. in the Dining Room of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services/Administration Building. This film interweaves stories from teenage girls with provocative interviews from Condoleezza Rice, Lisa Ling, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow and others, giving an inside look at the media and its messages.
