MCCC to Host Two Panel Discussions on Flint Water Crisis on Feb. 15

Afternoon Panel will be at Main Campus, Evening Panel at Whitman Center

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College will host two panel discussions on the water crisis in Flint on Monday, Feb. 15. The first panel discussion will be at 12:30 p.m. in the Dining Room of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services/Administration Building on the Main Campus.  The second panel discussion will be held at the college’s Temperance location, the Whitman Center, at 5:30 p.m.

The Main Campus is located at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. in Monroe.  The Whitman Center is located at 7777 Lewis Ave. in Temperance.

The panel discussions are free and open to the public. They will be hosted by MCCC President Dr. Kojo A. Quartey.
Panelists will include:

  • Joel Fiedler, adjunct instructor of sociology at MCCC
  • State Rep. Bill LaVoy (12:30 p.m. session only)
  • State Rep. Jason Sheppard
  • Robin Smith, adjunct instructor of sociology at MCCC
  • Chris Westover, registered environmental health specialist
  • State Sen. Dale Zorn

The panel discussions are part of the Culture and Current Affairs Speakers Series sponsored by MCCC, which features MCCC faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members with expertise on a variety of cultural, political or social topics of importance and interest at the present time.
