MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College will host a panel discussion, “Protests During the National Anthem, Right or Wrong” on Monday, October 17 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the dining room of the Audrey M. Warrick Student Services/Administration Building.
The panelists will discuss the controversial nature of recent protests against violence that have taken place at various sporting events. The discussion will be moderated by MCCC President Dr. Kojo A. Quartey.
Panelists will include Cathy Brodie, MCCC adjunct instructor and Agora Chorale director; Tinola Mayfield-Guerrero, adjunct instructor of sociology at MCCC and women and gender studies at the University of Toledo; Catina Polk, adjunct instructor of social sciences at MCCC; David Uhl, manager of the Village of Dundee and candidate for Monroe County sheriff, and Robin West Smith, adjunct instructor of social sciences at MCCC.
The panel discussion is part of the Culture and Current Affairs Speakers Series sponsored by MCCC, which features community members and MCCC faculty, staff, students and alumni with expertise on a variety of cultural, political or social topics of importance and interest at the present time.
