MONROE, Mich. – At a special meeting on Monday, the Monroe County Community College Board of Trustees voted to approve a Master Agreement between the Community College District of Monroe County and the MCCC Faculty Association. The Master Agreement was ratified by the Faculty Association on Wednesday.
The contract was approved by a trustees’ vote of 7-0 and covers the 62 full-time faculty positions at the college.
The contract runs through August 26, 2019 and provides a 1 percent increase on the salary schedule in the first year of the three-year contract and a 1.5 percent increase in the second and third years. It also includes an upgrade to the vision insurance plan coverage, as well as a reopening of the agreement in spring 2017 regarding medical insurance benefits.
MCCC President Dr. Kojo A. Quartey recommended the trustees’ approval of the contract, stating that it is a significant recognition of the college and faculty continuing to work together to responsibly deal with challenging economic times.
Board members present for the meeting were Joseph N. Bellino Jr., chair; Mary Kay Thayer, vice chair; Dr. James E. DeVries, secretary; Lynette Dowler; trustee; Dr. Edward Feldman, trustee; Marjorie A. Kreps, trustee; and Aaron Mason, trustee.
