MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College has awarded the JoAnn Naida Nursing Scholarship to Joseph Salloum and Alexa Stevens. The $1,000 scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees and books.
Salloum, of Temperance, is a 2000 graduate of Bedford High School and is currently studying Nursing at MCCC. He is a member of Bedford Township Fire Deparment. His parents are Denise Salloum and the late Edmund Salloum and has a son, Kaine Salloum.
Stevens, of Monroe, a 2011 graduate of Monroe High School is currently studying Nursing at MCCC. She is currently the President of the Student Nurses Assocation at MCCC and volunteers her time in the community including Monroe Medical Reserve Corps, Children with Hair Loss and Relay for Life. Her fiancé is Alex Russo.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a second year nursing student enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program, a Monroe County resident and have a 3.3 GPA or higher.
