MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College has awarded the Richard H. Hicks and Bernice Hicks Nursing Education Scholarships to William Burrous, Cecilee Carmack and Molly Meath. The scholarships are to be used for tuition, books, and fees.
Burrous, of Monroe, is a 1995 graduate of Paradise Valley High School and is studying Nursing at MCCC. He is a member of the Student Nurses Association and head coach in the Custer Little League Baseball program. He is the son of William and Ruth Burrous and Janet and Robert Smith and the father of Aidan and Avery Burrous.
Carmack, of Carleton, a Nursing major, is a 2013 graduate of Airport High School. She is a member of the Student Nurses Association as well as the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She is the daughter of Lanette Carmack.
Meath, of South Rockwood, is a 2001 graduate of O.A. Carlson. She is a member of the Student Nurses Association and an active member in her church making earrings and donating the money to a missionary in India. She is the wife of Caleb Badillo and mother of Sawyer Rose.
To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program at MCCC. Preference will be given to students who are veterans or those who have immediate family members who are veterans.
