Creative ideas:

1. Plot out a map of locations discussed in the book

2. Research types mushrooms in Michigan. Which ones are safe to eat, and which are dangerous?

3. This book deals with death and our traditions around death. Look into the different First People traditions of dealing with grief and death. How are alike and how do they differ?

4. Research the stories of Little People in Ojibwe oral tradition.

5. Learn ten Anishinaabemowin words.

6. Research the increasing problem with meth in the US. Discuss why you think Boulley used this drug as the inciting problem in her novel?

7. Outline this story for a murder mystery podcast. What evidence would you give in each episode?

8. Pretend the book is being made into a film and cast the movie.

9. Pretend to interview Dauntis after the book is over. What would you ask her? Come up with at least 10 questions.

10. Look into the history of Criminal Informants. Do you think it is fair to use people like this? Do the ends justify the means?
