A Message from the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success

Open Registration is Here

Scott Behrens

Hello students! I am Dr. Scott Behrens ("Dr. B."), the vice president of enrollment management and student success, and I wanted to remind you that Open Registration is in full swing.

Winter Semester Classes Begin January 10, so if you need to add or change classes, there is still time, but act soon because rosters filled quickly this past Fall Semester. Below is the contact info for the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of the Registrar.

FINANCIAL AID, fastudent@monroeccc.edu, (734) 384-4135

REGISTRATION, MC3Reg2@monroeccc.edu, (734) 384-4108

Schedule to meet with your academic advisor (Dual students should meet with their high school counselor.). Your faculty advisor’s phone number and e-mail address can be found on Husky Portal under “My Personal Profile.” You should take an active role in the advising process. Prepare a list of questions you want to ask. In preparation for registration, you should go to your Husky Portal account and plan your classes to the best of your ability. Here are instructions on how to do that:

1. Log in to the Husky Portal with your username and password.

2. Select Self-Service.

3. Select "Student Planning."

4. On the "Student Planning" page, select "Plan Your Degree and Register for Classes."

5. Use the arrows to select the appropriate term for which you are registering.

6. Make sure financial aid and payment are made so that you do not lose your classes.

If you have any issues logging into the Husky Portal, e-mail knavock@monroeccc.edu.

I would like to hear from you, including any concerns or suggestions you may have, so please feel free to contact me at sbehrens@monroeccc.edu.

Change to Student Password Requirements

MCCC is continually striving to align with best practices and procedures to help keep our student accounts secure. Please be aware of a change coming to student MCCC accounts.

Moving forward, we have decided to disable password expiration for student MCCC accounts per industry guidance.

If you have not changed their password within the last 6 months (since April 2024), you have been instructed to do so by December 16, 2024 so that your password meets the existing complexity requirements. Once your password meets the existing complexity requirements, you will no longer be required to change it on a regular basis. If you still have not changed your password by December 16, 2024, you will be forced to change it the next time you log in after that date.

MCCC STEM, Business Professionals of America Clubs Seeling Members

The MCCC STEM Club, also known as the Math and Science Society, was founded more than 20 years ago with the goal of supporting students with interests in astronomy, biology, chemistry, ecology, geology, environmental sciences, mathematics and physics and to show an integrated approach to science. But more than that, students come together to discuss current topics in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields and plan events that focus on those interests. The club is encouraging students to join members every other Wednesday, this Fall, in L111 at 2 p.m. to engage in thoughtful discussions about STEM topics and to set the club's agenda for the Fall and Summer semesters. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. in L111. For more information, contact the club adviser, Dr. Hans Lechner, at hlechner@monroeccc.edu.

The Business Professionals of America Club is a business-oriented club that focuses on giving students a chance to get hands-on experience with skills they will use in their careers. It also offers a chance to connect with other business-focused individuals and obtain skill-based certifications. It also looks great on your resume. For more information, students can email tmann34499@my.monroeccc.edu or can express interest by contacting Selina Griswold at sgriswold@monroeccc.edu. Submit to MCCC Happenings

The "MCCC Happenings" newsletter was created in response to student requests to minimize the number of emails sent to students. The intent of the newsletter is to provide students a simple place to learn about important information they need and events on campus. Ensure articles are written in third person as much as possible and are edited. Send articles to jhollis@monroeccc.edu in Microsoft Word by the appropriate deadlines below.

The Office of the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success has sole discretion regarding editing and what is published in MCCC Happenings.

The Office of Marketing Communications designs the online newsletter and copy edits submissions for accuracy and clarity.

The next issue will be in January, 2025.
