Remembering Bill Myers

Bill MyersWilliam "Bill" Myers graduated from Wayne State Police Academy and went on to work as a decorated Monroe County Deputy Sheriff for 33 years before retiring in 2004 - many of those years Bill served as the MCCC campus detail from the Sheriff's Department.   After retirement from the Sheriff's Department, he worked an additional 15 years as the Chief of Security for Monroe County Community College. All told, he served in law enforcement for 48 years and protected the campus of MCCC for over a quarter century.

Bill believed it was important for campus safety officers to have "the right demeanor and attitude" to serve and protect the students and the staff of MCCC.  In addition to safety, he could often be found helping students retrieve locked keys from inside their car, jump a car battery or help a student find their class.

The family has established the Bill Myers Memorial Fund with The Foundation at Monroe County Community College.  Anyone wishing to honor the life and legacy of Bill Myers may make a donation to this fund.
