Artist Statement
The luminosity and transparencies found in watercolor, acrylic and oil mediums have always intrigued me. I believe an artist must experience the painting - absorb the surroundings, the atmosphere, completely connect with the subject matter before the first brush stroke is applied. My style is described as “Abstract Realism” and my strength is found in color and composition.
I’m drawn to diverse subject matter that challenges the viewer to see abstraction in the ordinary - to meld the “real” world with the “abstract”. Although art is personal and subjective and speaks to everyone on an individual basis, a dialect or language, it is my role as an artist to introduce the viewer to different levels of awareness and appreciation.
A sampling of my work can be found on Facebook at David Larkins Art Studio or via http://www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/d/davidlarkins/
