4th Annual Jim Devries Student Symposium

La-Z-Boy Center

4th Annual Jim Devries Student Symposium will feature student and poster presentations, the reveal of the 39th Images Art and Literary Magazine, and a student art show. Approximately 40-50 students will participate, many of whom are members of the MCCC Honors Program, which provides high-achieving and highly motivated students with opportunities for service leadership, community-based civic-engagement and advanced academic scholarship.

Faculty will serve as hosts to review and rate presentations using a standard rubric with the goal of helping hone students' presentation abilities and build their confidence as they continue to through college and the professional world.

There will be three sessions for student presentations:
Morning session from 11 a.m.-noon
Afternoon session from 1-2 p.m.
Evening session from 5-7 p.m.

Students will be available to discuss poster projects in the La-Z-Boy Center Board Room between noon and 1 p.m.

The Images Magazine reveal and student art show will be held in the Atrium from 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Images is an annual publication of student poetry, prose and art. Faculty members of the Humanities/Social Sciences Division edit the magazine. Although most of the work chosen for publication comes from the art classes and MCCC’s creative writing course, the magazine welcomes submissions from all students.

The event is free and open to the public.
