To have the most successful academic experience, MCCC recommends that all students own a laptop computer that runs either Windows 11 or Mac OS 15.3. It is critical for online, hybrid and web-based students to have a reliable computer with access to reliable, broadband internet.
Students should not use Chromebooks. The college strongly advises against using other devices, including (but not limited to) tablets and phones, as they are incompatible with most courses of study and the resources available at the college.
MCCC recommends a laptop that runs Windows 11 with the following minimum specifications:
- Intel Core i5 12th gen or AMD Ryzen 5 7000 series or better
- 16 GB Ram
- 512 GB SSD
- Wi-Fi 6
- 15“ Screen
Apple devices are not compatible with some of the courses of study, please check with your advisor if you plan on utilizing an Apple device. If suitable here are the recommended specifications:
- Apple M2 processor
- 8 GB Ram
- 512 GB drive
Please note if your curriculum includes 3D design or 3D programming a discrete graphics card that would include an Nvidia GeForce 20 series or AMD Radeon RX 5000M series or better card will be needed along with an Intel Core i7 or Ryzen 7 processor with 32 GB of RAM. Please speak to your advisor if you have questions.
The Campus Store (located in the Warrick Student Center) stocks computers that meet the college’s recommended technical specifications, and can special order computers to meet specific program requirements as needed. Financial aid can be used for any computer purchases through the Campus Store.
