Monroe County Community College and the Center for Automotive Research invite you to participate in an Electric Vehicle Summit at MCCC.

The goals of the summit are to promote awareness and convene discussion on the necessary resources for electrification. It is made possible by a federal Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Planning Grant from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments secured by MCCC, the City of Monroe and the City of Luna Pier to provide programmatic and advocacy support for electric vehicle planning and EV charging infrastructure in Monroe County.

The summit will include sessions focused on local community needs and drawing on existing efforts that focus on communities, residents, education and businesses as the automotive industry transitions to electric vehicles.

The agenda includes:

  • A presentation of the results of the recent Community Electric Vehicle Survey implemented by the grant partners and CAR
  • A "Raising Awareness and Understanding of EVs" session with participation from local community leaders, State of Michigan officials and public utilities representatives
  • EV demonstrations and remarks by local automotive dealership representatives
  • An "Education and Training Pathways" session that will include an update on the development of academic programming at MCCC to provide education and training for electric vehicle supply equipment and infrastructure technicians and the college's support of education and training for electrification as one of the Workforce Intelligence Network's community college partners in the EV Jobs Academy Collaborative
  • An "Ensuring Community and Industry Success" session that will feature a presentation by the Monroe County Business Alliance on EV resources in the community
