MCCC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION INVITES APPLICANTS TO SERVE ON BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Monroe County Community College Alumni Association is currently seeking new members to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors. The application is available at https://www.monroeccc.edu/alumni-association.

The Board members of the MCCCAA are a talented, energetic and enthusiastic team of individuals that lead the business and engagement activities of the more than 400-member alumni group. The MCCCAA was organized in 1992 to work collaboratively with the college’s Board of Trustees, The Foundation at MCCC, staff, students and the community in support of the college’s mission, educational objectives and important role in the community. Board members serve two-year terms for a maximum of three consecutive terms and regular meetings are held bi-monthly.

“We are very proud of the work we have done through the years, especially our efforts to raise funds for scholarships for students and assisting in community events and activities to raise awareness of the college and serve our community,” said Wendy Abbott, chair of the Board of Directors of MCCCAA.

“We are very excited to once again participate in and assist at MCCC’s upcoming Commencement Ceremony in May and we are gearing up for our very popular annual Golf Outing every September at the Carrington Golf Club, now in its 29th year,” she added.

In addition to these upcoming activities, the MCCCAA, led by the Board of Directors, promotes the interests of MCCC, its alumni and the community; organizes social events; aids in the financial endeavors of MCCC and The Foundation at MCCC; advises the college on matters of educational significance, and/or social or cultural events; keeps alumni in contact with the growth and academic development of the college; helps the college identify those alumni who have made outstanding contributions to their profession, community, science, the arts or other human endeavors, through efforts such as the annual Alumni of the Year nominating and recognition; assists in raising and distributing scholarship funds to MCCC students, and more.

The networking and community involvement aspect of membership in the MCCCAA and serving on the Board has often led to other leadership opportunities for members. Several recent MCCCAA board members have taken the experience and knowledge gained and have expanded their leadership roles and are now serving on The Foundation at MCCC’s Board of Directors or been elected by the community to the MCCC Board of Trustees.
