Free Computer Information Systems ‘Boot Camp’ Will Highlight Career Options In Field

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College will host a free Computer Information Systems “Boot Camp” at the Main Campus this summer.

The CIS Boot Camp is an opportunity for those who are interested in learning more about office and computer skills that will be applicable to careers available in the field of computer information systems.

The CIS Boot Camp will be held on June 21, June 28 and July 12 from 5-9 p.m. and on June 22, 29 and July 13 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

“With the increased use of technology in all industries and the wide variety of systems and platforms that are used in careers across the board, the CIS Boot Camp is a wise investment of time for almost anyone entering the job market or exploring a career change,” said Paul Knollman, dean of business division. “In fact, MCCC offers a number of academic programs that are CIS-based and prepare students for careers in areas such as programming, computer hardware, cybersecurity and game development.

“The need for well-trained computer information systems professionals is great. Many jobs in this area only require a certificate, which can be completed in about a year, or a two-year associate degree.”

Many of the careers that will be discussed during the CIS Boot Camp are included on the State of Michigan’s HOT 50 list of high-demand, high-wage jobs through 2026.

The CIS Boot Camp is free, but preregistration is required. To register, please contact the MCCC Office of Lifelong Learning at (734) 384-4127 or visit Room 286 in the La-Z-Boy Center. The sessions will be held in Room 289 of the La-Z-Boy Center.

The CIS Boot Camp is made possible by grant funding from the Region 2 Planning Commission and is a partnership between MCCC, Monroe Learning Bank and Michigan Works! For more information, please call (734) 265-4200.
