Board Approves Slight Tuition Increase

MCCC Still Less Expensive than 12 of 19 Michigan Community Colleges that Charge by Billable Contact Hour

MONROE, Mich. – At a special meeting last night, the Monroe County Community College Board of Trustees unanimously approved a slight tuition increase for students who are Monroe County residents.

The Fall 2019 Semester tuition rate for Monroe County residents will go up $2.75 per contact hour to $112.25

With the increase, MCCC’s resident tuition rate is still less expensive than 12 of the 19 Michigan community colleges that charge by billable contact hour, according to a compilation presented at the meeting by Suzanne Wetzel, MCCC’s vice president of administration.

The Board also approved Fall Semester tuition rate increases for students who are not residents of Monroe County. Students living in Michigan but outside Monroe County will pay $199.50 per billable contact hour, up $5. Students from out of state will pay $222 per hour, up $5.50.

Chair Lynette Dowler, Vice Chair Mary Kay Thayer, Secretary Aaron Mason, and trustees William T. Bruck, Florence Buchanan, Steven Hill and Krista Lambrix were all present at the meeting.
