MCCC to Host Children’s Self Defense Camp

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College’s Office of Lifelong Learning has scheduled a Children’s Self-Defense camp that will take place July 9-13.

The camp is open to boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 5 and the cost s $89. The five-day camp will take place from 9-11 a.m. each day in Room 139 of the Welch Health Education Building on the Main Campus, which is located at 1555 S. Raisinville Rd. in Monroe.

The camp will teach children valuable skills, including street safety, anti-bullying tactics and practical self-defense.  Campers will learn to recognize threatening situations, how to respond to them, and how to mentally and emotionally gather the confidence needed to survive.  The camps will be taught by Mark Bergmooser, a fifth-degree black belt in tae kwon do.
