Paul W. Smith to Host WJR Morning Show Live From MCCC Thursday

MONROE, Mich. – Nationally known WJR-AM (760) radio anchor and Monroe County Community College alum Paul W. Smith will broadcast a special edition of his morning news and talk show live from the college’s La-Z-Boy Center Thursday from 5:30-9 a.m.
The special broadcast of “The Paul W. Smith Show” is sponsored by Monroe County Community College, DTE Energy, La-Z-Boy Inc., Monroe Bank & Trust and ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.  It will focus on the many strengths of Monroe County, as well as new local initiatives. 

The broadcast, which is free and open to the public, is part of Smith’s annual spring Pure Michigan Tour of broadcasts at destinations around the state.

A native of Monroe and a 1973 MCCC graduate, Smith is an avid supporter of the region.  His show has consistently been rated the top morning radio show in metro Detroit and is also heard throughout the Midwest.  He has an extensive background in talk radio, television and the entertainment fields.  Smith has been a host on the ABC Radio Network and at the former Financial News Network in New York City.  He has also hosted morning shows on both radio and television in Toledo, Ohio, on radio stations WABC and WMCA in New York City, on WWDB-FM in Philadelphia from 1990-1996 and then back home to WJR in Detroit. 

Smith has also served as fill-in host for the “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” Paul Harvey News and Comment” and “The Sean Hannity Show.”
