WOMEN’S SELF-DEFENSE SEMINAR,
TAE KWON DO CLASSES TO BE OFFERED THIS SPRING
MONROE, Mich. – MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Community College’s Office of Lifelong Learning has scheduled a Women’s Self-Defense Seminar and Tae Kwon Do classes for the spring.
The Women’s Self-Defense Seminar be will be held on Tuesday, April 18 from 7-9 p.m. in the Welch Health Education Building on the Main Campus. This seminar will cover simple self-defense strategies designed to help women protect themselves from attackers. They will learn how to recognize threatening situations, methods of responding to them, and how to mentally and emotionally gather the confidence they need to survive an attack. The cost is $29. The cost for senior citizens is $14.50.
The Tae Kwon Do class session dates as follows: March 23-April 25; April 27-Aug. 8; May 23-June 15; June 20-July 13, and July 18-Aug. 8. They will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in the Welch Health Education Building on the Main Campus. There are no classes on April 11, 13, 18; May 30, and July 4. Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that translates into “the way of kicking and punching” with proper attitude and concentration." People practice Tae Kwon Do to learn mind and body control through unarmed self-defense techniques, discipline and concentration. The cost for each session is $54. The cost for senior citizens is $28.50. Students age 5 and up are welcome. Additional private lesson options are also available in combination with the sessions.
The Women’s Self-Defense Seminar and Tae Kwon Do classes will be taught by Master Mark Bergmooser, who holds a fifth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
